consists of preparation of design documents including investigation,
design, drawings and specifications for construction. Major renovation
of two existing Processing and Distribution Centers (P&DC), (1) Midway
P&DC, San Diego, CA, and (2) Van Nuys P&DC, Van Nuys, CA. The
facilities are 457,920 square feet and 199,964 square feet,
respectively. The projects do not contain any fixed mechanization. The
contract may contain options for construction administration and other
services during construction. The qualifications for the firms for
these projects are as follows: (1) Autocadd Version 11 or later, (2)
Architectural firm shall have a minimum of 4 licensed architects in the
office where the work is performed, (3) Consulting engineering firm(s)
shall have a minimum of 3 licensed structural, mechanical and
electrical engineers in the office where the work is performed, and (4)
prime and consultants shall have worked together on a least 3 projects
of similar size and scope. Firms that have the qualifications to
perform the services described previously are invited to submit a
competed SF 255, Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire
for Specific Project, and a completed SF 254, Architect-Engineer and
Related Services Questionnaire, for each of its proposed consultants to
the office shown above, received not later than September 6, 1995. If
you are submitting to be considered for only one of the projects, you
must so indicate. It is the U. S. Postal Service's intention to award
contracts to two separate firms. The determination of which firm will
receive which project will be made by geographical closeness as judged
by the committee. The selection will be conducted by using both the
submitted SF255 and SF 254(s). Interested firms with more than one
office must indicate on their SF 255 the staffing composition of the
office in which the work will be performed. Consideration will be given
to firms responding to the advertisement in accordance with the
following order of preference: (1) Local (75 mile radius of either
project, (2) State of California, and (3) out of state. Architectural
and engineering firms will be considered as local only if their sole
office in the local geographical area or they have a local branch
office and all the architectural design, coordination, and management
of the project will be performed in that office. There is no
restriction on the geographical location of consultants. The contract
will contain a requirement for firms to provide evidence of current
insurance of $1,000,000 of errors and omissions per claim.
Participation of Minority-Owned Businesses is a consideration of U. S.
Postal Service architect-engineer selections. It is prohibited to pay
any fee commission, percentage, or brokerage fee to any person or firm
contingent upon or resulting from award of a contract for this project.
No other general notification for this project will be made.
