RATIONAL APPROACH Sol. IPO-95-443. Contact Mark W. Bitensky, Biophysics

665-1464. Correction: See Issue No. PSA-1387; 7-13-95. The University
of California which operates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)
under contract to the Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking an
industrial partner(s) in the field of blood storage and transfusion
medicine. Ongoing research activity at LANL has resulted in more
complete understanding of the damage pathways that operate during
refrigerated storage of human red blood cells at 4 degrees centigrade.
This has permitted the identification of effective countermeasures for
each damage pathway and has further resulted in the demonstration of
significant prolongation of the useful shelf life of refrigerated red
cells as a consequence of the synergistic deployment of these
couuntermeasures. These developments hae profound implications for
improving the logistics of blood banking as well as the practicability
of autologous (patient to self) transfusion. Patent disclosures for
these discoveries have been submitted. Any company that wishes to
receive more information concerning this program must respond with a
statement of intent, describing the company's technical expertise,
production and marketing capabilities, financial resources, previous
technology transfer experience, and motivation for participation in
this program. This statement must be dated within 15 business days from
the date of this corrected notice. (202) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0010 19950724\A-0010.SOL)
