contractor shall design and install extensions to the fiber optic
based distribution system to support audio-visual requirement. Indoor
and outdoor fiber optic cabling shall be installed utilizing single
mode, 8.5/125 micron, 1300 and 1550 nano-meter fiber optic cabling.
Each cable shall have 24 strands of fiber although not all strands will
be terminated at each locations. Indoor fiber optic cabling shall be
riser rated cable and shall conform to Flame Resistance in accordance
with UL 1666. Siecor MIC cable or equivalent shall be used. Existing
Government conduits shall be used to the greatest extent possible.
Outdoor fiber optic cabling shall be rated for direct underground bury
and shall have an armored sheathing inbedded into jacket. Siecor
Double Jacket, Single Armor Cabling or equivalent shall be used.
Outdoor installation shall utilize an outdoor pedestal of the type,
design and color previosuly installed. There shall be hardware with the
pedestal for termination of 24 fibers on ST connectors. Additional
locations shall have fiber optic connectivity installed and
interconnected with the Fiber Distribution System. A table will be made
available to identify specific locations, the type of termination
device to be used and the number of fibers to be terminated. Each run
of fiber optic cabling will terminated at one of the Main or
Intermediate Distribution Frames (MDF or IDF). Individual room user
connection points shall be installed in manner to protect the fiber
optic connectors, provide for ease of access to the connectors and
provide for the historical preservation of the rooms installed. The
contractor shall use modular design wiring/utility closet hardware to
ensure ease of maintenance support after installation is completed.
Rooms can be categorized as having little or no closet space and
moderate closet space. In rooms where there is little or no closet
space and high cisibility shall use an on-wallbox with a double gang
wall bezel capable of terminating 12 fibers on ST connectors. Rooms
that have little or no closet space and a level of visibility shall use
a surface mount wall box capable of terminating 12 fibers on ST
connectors. Rooms that have adequate closet space shall use a fiber
wall panel capable of terminating 24 fibers on ST connectors. MOD-TAP
High Performance System 100 components or equivalent shall be used. All
interested parties must submit a written request for a copy of the
solicitation within 15 calendar days of this notification. The request
should be written on company letter-head, the title of the
requirement, to include the solicitation number and contracting
