DABT10) The U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) is seeking prospective
sources for a portable scanner that will read and store serial numbers
(ID codes) that are factory-engraved in the metal of weapon stocks,
barrels, and scopes. The scanner must have a memory capacity of 5,000
or more ID codes and be capable of interfacing with a computer with DOS
5 or above hard drive which translates the ID code to an exact
description and history of the inventoried item. Interested sources are
requested to submit brochures, specifications, and other descriptive
literature which demonstrates the capability of their product. If a
product is not currently produced, sources capable of developing such
a product are requested to submit information which demonstrates their
ability to do so. Please forward responses not later than 28 Jul 95,
