COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 18,1995 PSA#1390MEDICAL IMAGING Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a partner to
participate in the development of a new
gamma-ray-medical-imaging-camera concept for application in SPECT
(single photon emission computed tomography). The camera is designed to
obtain 1 mm spatial resolution while at the same time attaining high
photon counting efficiency so that statistically meaningful images can
be rapidly generated. The attainment of higher resolution with
adequate image quality for SPECT is a critical step for projecting
nuclear medicine toward its full potential in medical diagnostics.
Sandia Laboratories is managed by Lockheed-Martin for the Department of
Energy and has expertise in the technical areas required for this
project including advanced manufacturing, advanced computing, image
processing, solid state detectors, radiation science, imaging system
development and robotics. In addition, the Annular Core Research
Reactor at Sandia is being proposed for production of radioisotopes (in
particular, 99Mo) for nuclear medicine applications. For more
information please write or fax Joanne Trujillo, Sandia National
Laboratories, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque, NM 87185-1380, FAX:
505-271-4202. For additional technical information interested parties
are encouraged to contact either of the following staff members for
information. Jake (John G.) Kelly, (505) 845-3021, fax (505) 845-3115.
