COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF july 17,1995 PSA#1389NOAA, WASC, Procurement Division WC33, 7600 Sand Point Way NE, BIN
C15700, Seattle, WA 98115 B -- BEHAVIORAL RESPONSES OF CAPTIVE CETACEANS AND PINNIPEDS TO NET
FRAGMENTS SOL 52ABNF-5-00161 DUE 091295 POC For a copy of the
solicitation, call Klint Demetrio at 206-526-4499. For further
information, call Contract Specialist Sharon Kent at 206-526-6035. Fax
number is 206-526-6025. Continue the study of the behavior of captive
pinnipeds and cetaceans in response to novel objects to better
understand and mitigate the problem of entanglement of these animals
(or similar species) in the wild. This work is designed to measure the
responses of the different captive species to the introduction of net
fragments as examples of novel objects by conducting two studies,
naive and longitudinal. The naive study will test the differences in
responses between species. The longitudinal study will test a species
ability to habituate to the introduction of nets, and its ability to
generalize their inital experience to different conditions. The period
of performance will be two years. All responsible sources may submit
a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. (0194) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0018 19950714\B-0003.SOL)
