Ward, (801) 524-5248, Contracting Officer Work consists of constructing a 6 x 350 foot concrete chute. Chute is divided in a series of small pools by baffles. The upstream entrance will have a log boom and trash rack to screen debris. There will be a forebay on the upper end allowing fish to be trapped and separated. Concrete wing walls will project 36 feet upstream and 32 feet downstream of the forebay structure and extend 2 feet higher than the existing bank. Specifically work requires about 950 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete. About 10,000 cubic yards of material will be excavated, of which about 7000 cubic yards will be wasted. The waste area will be shaped, graded, and seeded to blend into the surrounding terrain. About 2500 cubic yards of structural backfill comprised primarily of gravels will be required. Furnishing and installing approximately 300 linear feet of 42-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe plus fittings and approximately 400 linear feet of PVC pipe plus fittings. Furnishing and installing aluminum baffles and miscellaneous metalwork. Passageway site will be secured with a 6-foot-high fence and a 400 watt security light. The area around the passageway will be graveled. A bridge over the passageway will permit vehicle access. Work also requires mobilizing, demobilizing, and cleaning up. Estimated price range of job is $1,000,001 to $5,000,000. Job site is on the Gunnison River approximately 2 miles upstream of the confluence with the Colorado River, near Grand Junction, in Mesa County, Colorado. Work is under SIC code 1629.
