COMMUNICATION SYSTEM REFERENCE NO. T-705767 Contact, Jeff Phillips,
A2-90, (509) 376-6592. Boeing Computer Services, Richland (BCSR) a
subcontractor of Westinghouse Hanford Company (WHC), the Management and
Operating Contractor for the Department of Energy, Richland Field
Office, Richland, Washington, is requesting information from vendors
capable of satisfying the broadest set of requirements and having a
long term strategy and commitment to support the full systems level
implementation of a single Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) based voice
(telephone), data (LAN) and video communication system which uses the
personal computer and a single network connection as its primary
delivery vehicle. Specific information concerning available support
services for ATM architecture planning, pilot testing and systems
integration and the current and future products and technology offered
or under development to satisfy the complete set of requirements is
desired. This new capability is anticipated to eventually consolidate
the current digital telephone system, LAN and analog video distribution
systems at the Hanford Site within a single ATM based multimedia
communications system. The Hanford Site currently operates its own
digital telephone switch supporting 14,000 people, its own local area
and wide area network with 10,000-12,000 users and 600 application or
file servers, And a variety of special purpose video distribution
systems. Vendors furnishing the requested information should include
technical literature, delivery schedule, GSA contract number if
applicable, current and former federal clients, and any other pertinent
information. There is no intent to award a contract on the basis of
this synopsis, but to gather information. Future action within the two
year pilot initiative period (1996 and 1997) is dependent on the
capabilities of the responding vendors, estimated cost of the project,
cost sharing approaches, approved funding and the continued retention
of the project as a high priority for the Hanford Site. Information
concerning the details of the anticipated project is available upon
request. These details include: more detailed description of
information requirements and objectives of initiative, descriptions of
communication and application architecture components, general
description of targeted system functionality, and a description of
Hanford legacy systems. A series of specific question and response
