pages of the notified document: Amendment Regulation V of the
Regulation on Trading Standards on Poultry for Slaughter - the
Industrial Board Poultry Trade and Industry (I.B.P.T.I.). 6.
Description of content: New definition of the terms ``edible
by-products'' and ``offal'' in line with European regulations. 7.
Objective and rationale: The proposed amendments are necessary in view
of the fact that Directive 71/118/EC and Regulations 1906/90 and
1538/91 of the European Union define the concepts ``edible
by-products'' and ``offal'' differently from the current I.B.P.T.I.
regulation. Both the inspecting government body and industry require
clarity on the matter. 8. Relevant documents: Council Regulation
1906/90/EEC of 26 June 1990 laying down trading standards for poultry
meat and Commission Regulation 1538/91/EEC of 5 June 1991 containing
provisions implementing Council Regulation 1906/90/EEC of 26 June 1990
