accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif. 95.192. 1. Member to

notified document: Proposed Amendment to the Food and Drug Regulations
(pages 1,913-1,915). 6. Description of content: The definition of
``child-resistant package'' in the Food and Drug Regulations contains
references to certain standards to which a child-resistant package must
comply. These standards are revised as required, by the sponsoring
organizations to keep them up to date with new advances in packaging
and scientific technology. This regulatory amendment changes the
references to the following child-resistant package standards to
continually reflect the most recent edition, as amended from time to
time. (1) Canadian Standards Association Standard, CAN/SCA-Z76.1-M90,
Recloseable Child-Resistant Packages, published January 1990. (2)
European Standard, EN 28317: 1992, Child-resistant packaging -
requirements and testing procedures for recloseable packages, as
adopted by the European Committee for Standardization on 30 October
1992, and recognized by the British Standards Institution, and
effective 15 February 1993. (3) Code of Federal Regulations (United
States), Title 16, Section 1700.15, Poison prevention packaging
standards. 7. Objective and rationale: Prevention of deceptive
practices. 8. Relevant documents: Canada Gazette, Part I, 10 June 1995.
9. Proposed date of adoption and entry into force: The amendments to
the standards from time to time become effective one year from the date
of their adoption by the competent authority. 10. Final date for
