The Common Airborne Instrumentation System (CAIS) Joint Program Office, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, has a requirement for 1,000 CAIS Bus ASICS, LSI Logic part number L1A1319GJ6508DDB. The CAIS Bus ASIC is a custom application specific integrated circuit, gate array, packaged in a 48-pin ceramic dip and three-temp tested over full military temperature range. Under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. It is anticipated that negotiations will be conducted with LSI Logic Corporation, 765 Sycamore Drive, Milpitas, CA 95035 on a sole source basis. The CAIS-compatible Bus ASIC is a previously developed and produced proprietary item of LSI Logic. LSI Logic solely possesses the proprietary data and engineering drawings for the CAIS Bus ASIC. Since this information is not available to other companies, this requirement cannot be competed. However, we are seeking competition among LSI's distributors. The contract type will be firm fixed price with delivery to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, MD. The contract is anticipated to be awarded on or before 31 August 1995. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the agency.
