UNIVERSITY RESEARCH & TRAINING PROGRAM. The Federal Transit
Administration (FTA) intends to award a limited number of grants in FY
1995 to accredited institutions of higher learning to assist in
carrying out research of problems and to provide professional training
in the field of urban and rural transportation. Areas of interest to
FTA in FY 1995 are: Maximizing Security and Safety of Transit Systems
for Services Users; Fostering Customer-Oriented Public Transportation;
Fostering Industry Adaptability to Enable the Industry to Respond to
Changes in Transportation Patterns, Technologies and Needs; Maximizing
a Multimodel Approach to Transportation; Ensuring Highest Level of
Transit Service Assistance Delivery and Promoting Linkages Between
Transit Needs and Community Needs. It is anticipated that the
Announcement will be released to interested parties on June 30, 1995.
