N00167-95-R-4015 DUE 080795 POC Ms. Kim Tatum, Contract Specialist
(301) 394-3782/Contracting Officer, Pamela K. Collins or Renee
Cairo-Iocco. The Carderock Division, White Oak Site, Naval Surface
Warfare Center has a sole source requirement for six SiC/A1 metal
matrix composite waveguides that meet the requirements of the High Gain
Antenna Replacement Assembly for the Hubble Space Telescope project.
The SiC/A1 composite material must be space qualified and must have
reproducible material properties. The space telescope project
requirements include high stiffness and strength, good thermal
conductivity and limited coefficient of thermal expansion. Each
waveguide is to be of an extruded material nominally 12 feet long of a
hollow rectangular cross section with inside dimensions nominally 3.4
inches by 1.7 inches and a wall thickness of 0.100 inch. Specific
dimensions and tolerances apply. Vendor must have demonstrated an
