NOTICE OF EMERGENCY GENERATOR AND UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY
INSTALLATION, BUILDING 12, NIH, BETHESDA, MD. Work shall be inclusive
of, but not limited to the following: Construction to occur in rooms
within occupied Building 12, roof areas, Penthouse and Service
Courtyard. Demolition includes masonry structure, portions of stair
enclosure, portions of Penthouse, mechanical and electrical equipment,
associated wiring and piping. Pipe insulation and floor tile to be
disturbed has been determined to contain asbestos and will require
removal and disposal prior to demolition, per federal, state and local
regulations. Work includes construction of 104 square meters (1150
square feet) masonry and concrete addition to house three 1000kw
emergency diesel generators with installation of busway, air supply,
exhaust system, sound attenuation, cooling equipment, support piping
and wiring for connection to a new 1000kw redundant UPS and three 500kw
network transformers and supporting switchgear to be installed in the
Penthouse, 1st and 2nd Floors. Also included is installation of new
structural steel support members and concrete slab in Penthouse, repair
of portions of Building 12 roof, replacement of Penthouse roof
membrane, miscellaneous infill of door and window openings,
installation of an above-grade fuel storage system including leak
detention at grade. Site work includes sawcutting of existing paving,
regrading, and application of new bituminous paving in disturbed areas.
This is a metric job. Contract performance period will be 365 calendar
days from Notice to Proceed. The magnitude of this fixed-price
construction contract is estimated to be between $5,000,000 and
$10,000,000. The basis of award will be the low Base Bid which is
subject to availability of funds. Plans and Specifications will be
available on or about July 5, 1995 from the Bid Custodian, 9000
Rockville Pike, Building 13, Room G-800, Bethesda, Maryland at a
non-refundable cost of $150.00. Payment must be in the form of
Cashier's check, Money Order or Certified check only. Checks shall be
made payable to the National Institutes of Health. A letter on company
letterhead must be enclosed indicating the address to which all agenda
and communications should be transmitted. Request for the IFB must cite
the IFB No. 263- 95-B(CP)-0239. Telephone requests will not be
accepted. The Pre-Bid Conference/Site Visit will be held on July 24,
1995 at 1:00 p.m. on the NIH campus in Building 13, Room G-800. Bids
will be due on or about August 7, 1995. Further information concerning
the bid opening will be noted in the IFB. The Standard Industry Code
(SIC) for this project is 1731. All responsible sources may submit a
