Bureau of Mines has a requirement for an Environmental Assessment of
Bureau of Mines property known as Mayflower Island located on Juneau
Island adjacent to the Douglas Boat Harbor, City and Borough Juneau,
Alaska. Scope includes excavation/borings; collecting and analyzing
samples; characterizing the concentrations, areal extent and quantity
of any contamination; and recommending remediation methods and
estimating costs if contamination is present. Minimum number of
substances to be tested shall include priority pollutant metals, as
well as chlorinated solvents and total petroleum hydrocarbons below the
septic tank outfall. Inorganic analyses for priority pollutant metals
shall be done in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency
Methods 6010, 7000 Series, and 7470/7471. Contractor shall develop a
Sampling Plan, a Site Safety Plan, a Quality Assurance Plan and an
Investigation Derived Wastes Plan. Contractor shall coordinate all
activities with the State of Alaska Department of Environmental
