COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF june 16,1995 PSA#1369U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Division of Contracts, Attn: Linda
Wise, Mail Stop T-7-I2, Washington, D.C. 20555 70 -- AYDIN DISPLAY GENERATOR UPGRADE SOL RS-AED-95-351 POC Mary Jo
Mattia, Contracting Officer, 301/415-7315/, Penelope Kinney, Contract
Specialist, 301/415-6576 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
intends to enter into a sole source contract with Aydin Controls, Inc.
to acquire replacement display generation systems for the Babcock &
Wilcox (B&W) and General Electric BWR/4 full scope nuclear plant
simulators. An option will be included for a replacement display
generation system for the General Electric BWR/6 simulator. The
upgraded system must be compatible with existing simulator graphical
display software. An Aydin 7402 workstation with specifically matched
components running a modified version of the Unix operating system is
required for both simulators. The existing simulator graphical display
software was specifically written to interface with Aydin display
generators and is proprietary as are modifications which have been made
to the operating system which controls the workstation. This
workstation is compatible with Aydin's display generation software
currently being used by the NRC Technical Training Center (TTC) in
Chattanooga, Tennessee. The simulators are used by the TTC for full
scope nuclear simulator training. Aydin Controls, Inc. is the only
company that can deliver a product compatible with existing software
because the Aydin display generator is proprietary. The period of
performance is 24 months. This is not a request for proposal, since no
solicitation will be issued. See Numbered Note 22. (0165) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0509 19950615\70-0006.SOL)
