A -- New Generation 9 Station Very Long Baseline Interferometry Mark IV Correlator -- This synopsis announces to all interested parties that NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center intends to contract with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on a sole source basis, for the design and build of the new generation 9 station VBLI Mark IV correlator. MIT's Haystack Observatory (HO) researched, designed and built the previous Mark I and Mark III systems. HO is currently under contract to design and build the Mark IV system in support of Goddard's Space Geodesy Program. The experience gained in the observatory's previous Very Long Baseline Interferometry work makes it uniquely qualified among interferometry correlator sources. This procurement is authorized under 10 U.S.C.2304(c) - only one responsible source. Any interferometry correlator sources interested in providing the new generation 9 station VBLI correlator at a competitive price should contact Liz Aldridge in writing at the address referenced above.
