This is a Request For Information only. There is no solicitation
package available. Overview: The hose assemblies will be used about one
hour per month to test hydraulic systems on the deck of aircraft
carriers. During testing they will be exposed to whatever elements are
present at sea in any kind of weather. When not testing the hoses will
be stored in a locker where they are protected from direct effects of
weather, but are still exposed to the corrosive effects of a maritime
atmosphere. Some of the desired characteristics are as follows: Sizes:
-24 nominal size (1.375 I.D) X 180'' long, -16 nominal size (.875LD)
X 180'' long. Fittings at each end- internal threaded nut to mate with
male threads per AS 4395. Stainless steel material. Hose Construction:
Inner layer to conduct the fluid; outer layer of stainless steel braid
to give structural strength and protect fluid conductor from damage.
Minimum Bend Radius: (-24 size)= 15'', Minimum Bend Radius: (-16 size)=
11''. Pressures: Normal operating 2500 psi, Proof 3750 psi, Burst 5000
psi. Leakage: No visible evidence of fluid leakage when pressurized to
3000 psi for five minutes. Fluid: MIL-H-22072 at 200 degrees F; ambient
temperature range: -30 to +150 degrees F. To assist in developing a
final statement of hose requirements, prospective suppliers are
encouraged to supply information on products that meet the stated
needs. Alternatives that substantially, although not precisely, meet
the needs are also encouraged. Specific information that would be
helpful is as follows: 1. Product brochures and technical literature;
2. Existing pertinent test data; 3. Descriptions of inspections and
tests that candidate products are presently subjected to for commercial
markets. 4.Engineering drawings; 5. Supplier cage number; 6. Suppliers
hose part numbers; 7. Product shelf life and warranties; 8.
Description of available packaging for long term storage. Information
