being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif. 95.154.
1. Member to Agreement notifying: AUSTRALIA. If applicable, name of
local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2): 2. Agency
responsible: National Food Authority. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2.
4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national
tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where
applicable): Soft drinks and fruit drinks. 5. Title and number of pages
of the notified document: Explanatory Notes - Application A232, (2
pages). 6. Description of content: An application to amend the
Australian Food Standards Code to permit the use of salts of citric,
lactic, maltic or tartic acids in soft drinks and fruit drinks. 7.
Objective and rationale: Align with current standards in food
technology. 8. Relevant documents: Australian Food Standards Code,
Standard O4 - Soft Drink and Drink Products; and Standard O9 - Fruit
Drinks and Fruit Drink Products. 9. Proposed date of adoption and entry
into force: Recommendation to Government by 11 November 1995, and entry
into force to be decided. 10. Final date for comments: The domestic
closing date for comments is 14 June 1995. However, comments from
Parties will be accepted until 14 July if notice of intention to
comment is received by the domestic closing date. Comments should be
