44135 35 -- RECORDING SYSTEMS UPGRADE POC Tim Pierce, Contracting Officer
(216) 433-2147 or Ronald Sicker, Project Manager (216) 433-6498 who may
be contacted at Mail Stop 500-216. The Space Acceleration Measurement
System (SAMS) has a need to replace eight existing Mountain Optech,
model SEL-2, optical drive systems used in two Data Storage Units (DSU)
that are mounted in the Space Shuttle (STS) cargo bay. The replacement
recording systems must fit in the same form factor and must be
compatible with the existing eight optical drives (four per DSU) and be
space flight qualified. Space flight qualification could be obtained by
commonality with hardware that has previously performed successfully on
Space Transportation Systems (STS) missions or completion of a
comprehensive test program to demonstrate compliance with STS
requirements. The replacement recording system must have a minimum of
2.2 gigabytes of recording capacity per DSU. However; a replacement
system that performs in the same manner, fits in the same form factor
but does not populate all four mounting locations will be considered.
All interested parties may submit information for evaluation of their
capabilities to the above named project manager prior to the closing
date of this synopsis. (0150) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0320 19950531\35-0002.SOL)
