R -- PART A MEDICARE BANKING SERVICES At New Mexico Blue Cross and Blue Shield intends to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) on June 1, 1995, for banking services under the Checks Paid Method of Letter Credit Financing (zero balanceaccount) of handling the Medicare Federal Health Insurance Benefits Account. Government funds will be deposited in a Time Account and the interest earned by the Time Account will be used to offset the bank's service charges for handling the Medicare Benefits Account. Banks should have capability to clear and reconcile an account with volume of 17,000 checks and 2,200 ACH credits per month with dollar disbursements amounting to $500,000,000 per month.
