Chairman, A-E Evaluation Board. The contract for architect-engineer
(A-E) services consists of the preparation of plans, specifications and
cost estimates for the construction of a new Main Post Office
containing approximately 23,000 sq. ft. within the delivery area of the
Old Bridge Post Office, Old Bridge, New Jersey 08857-9998. The new
facility will provide full retail services, carrier and mail processing
operations with sufficient loading, support and parking areas to
accommodate the entire operation. The estimated total project
construction cost is $3,385,000. The contract will be firm fixed price
negotiated type and will contain an option to the U.S.P.S. for Title
II Construction Contract Services. The US Postal Service reserves the
right to make additional design awards to the successful A/E firm
within a three year period in the geographic area of the Central New
Jersey District area. These jobs may be new construction or repair &
alteration projects with construction costs exceeding $300,000.00. Firm
applying should be architecturally oriented, with staff or consultants
in civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and traffic engineering.
They should show experience in construction or construction management.
Firms that have the qualifications to perform the services described
previously are invited to submit a completed SF 255, Architect-Engineer
and Related Services Questionnaire for Specific Project; a completed SF
254, Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire; and a
completed SF 254 for each of its proposed consultants to the office
shown above, postmarked not later than June 23, 1995. The selection
will be conducted by using both the submitted SF 255 and the SF 254s.
Interested firms with more than one office must indicate on their SF
255 the staffing composition of the office in which the work will be
performed. Consideration will be given to firms responding to this
advertisement in accordance with the instruction in the following order
of preference: (1) Local, (within 25 miles of the site); (2) within the
State of New Jersey; (3) all others. Architectural and Engineering
firms will be considered as local only if their sole office is in the
local geographic area or they have a local branch office and all the
architectural design, coordination, and management of the project will
be performed in that office. There is no restriction on the geographic
location of consultants. The contract contains a requirement for
evidence of current errors and omissions insurance. To the fullest
extent, the U.S. Postal Service welcomes the participation of women
and/or minority owned/operated A-E firms. It is prohibited to pay any
fee, commission, percentage, or brokerage fee to any person or firm
contingent upon or resulting from award of contract for this project.
Personal visits and phone calls for the purpose of discussing this
project are not permitted. No other general notification of this
project will be made. Submissions will not be retained or returned.
