Establishment and Operation of DoD Manufacturing Technology Information
Analysis Center (MTIAC) to be awarded for a three (3) year period with
an option to extend for an additional two (2) year period. Contractor
shall be responsible for the collection, review, analysis, appraisal,
summary, and dissemination of the MTIAC information and data within
the scope of the MTIAC. Primary users are scientists, engineers, and
technicians engaged in scientific and engineering programs for DoD.
Other users include other U.S. Government Agencies and their
contractors and the Private Sector consistent with security and other
limitations on the Center's information. The MTIAC shall concern itself
with areas of manufacturing technology which support the DoD
Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) Program. These areas include,
but are not limited to: metals, nonmetals, inspection, test, quality,
munitions, computer-aided manufacturing, computer-aided design,
robotics, artificial intelligence, computer integrated manufacturing,
electronics, machine tools, tooling, manufacturing equipment, materials
handling, materials handling equipment, control systems, software,
databases, communication networks, sensors, signal processing,
materials, production processes, manufacturing management, factory
automation, manufacturing economics, manufacturing finance, scheduling,
simulation, information management, design, process, control,
productivity, production methods, manufacturing reliability,
specifications, strategic planning, systems analysis, manufacturing
support tools, integrated product and process development, simulation
based design, environmental restoration, pollution mitigation,
benchmarking, and best commercial practices. The contractor must have
the capability to prepare authoritative technical reference works
including technical handbooks, State-of-the-Art reports, critical
reviews, technology assessments, and respond to technical and
bibliographic inquiries. Sources must have the capability of a
full-service Information Analysis Center with immediate access on an as
needed basis to scientific and engineering expertise in the range of
subjects and disciplines within the Center's scope of work and whose
experts' primary assignments are research and development in the
required disciplines. The estimated issue date for the solicitation
SPO900-95-R-1001 is 25 Jun 95. A preproposal conference will be
scheduled at the Defense Electronics Supply Center approximately two
weeks after release of the solicitation. Time and exact location will
be announced in the solicitation. The estimated closing date is 30 Aug
95. No further announcements regarding this solicitation are
