Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a ten (10) inch
lathe having an infinitely variable high speed range, 1 horsepower
rating, for producing both production and prototype parts to precision
tolerances from a variety of materials. The lathe design shall be one
of the manufacturer's current models capable of facilitating changing
feeds, speeds, and tooling. It shall be suitable for all normal lathe
functions within its capacity such as turning, boring, and thread
cutting on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The U.S. Customary System
of Units (US) shall be used in the design and construction of the
machine. The measuring and indicating devices shall be graduated in
both the U.S. and S.I. System of Measurements. Detailed specifications
will be available in the solicitation package. The delivery of the
lathe is required ninety (90) days after the date of contract award
(FOB Destination - Gaithersburg, MD). All requests for a copy of the
solicitation shall be submitted in writing to the above address. All
responsible sources are invited to submit a proposal which will be
