M. Banashefski, Contracting Officer. The U.S. Marine Corps has a
requirement for 699,594 rounds of .50 Caliber Saboted Light Armor
Penetrator (SLAP) ammunition. The rounds are linked in a four to one
ratio, four M903 rounds to one M962 tracer round. The National Stock
Number (NSN) for this item is 1305 01 332 8254. This effort is a
continuation of the first production of the item. The government is
seeking to continue use of engineering and production facilities at
Olin Winchester to produce SLAP ammunition. The manufactured rounds
shall continue to meet the following requirements. The rounds shall
function in the Caliber .50 M2 machine gun without any modifications to
the weapon. They shall be safe to use, and present no unusual hazard to
the soldier. They shall be manufactured in accordance with the
government provided technical data package (TDP) and meet all
requirements per MIL-C-70633B. The producer must show evidence of
familiarity with design and process techniques for injection molded
engineered plastic parts and the relationships between process controls
and molded part performance. The contractor will be required to procure
all materials necessary to design and fabricate molds to produce the
rounds. Interested producers of .50 caliber ammunition are requested to
submit capabilities statements to U.S. Army ARDEC, ATTN:
