COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 16,1995 PSA#1347US Army CECOM, Product Integrity & Production Engineering Directorate,
Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5000 66 -- MARKET SURVEY FOR RADIAC SET; AN/UDR-13 (POCKET RADIAC) POC Mr.
Ted Do (908)427-5994. The US Army Communications Electronics Command
(CECOM) is conducting a market survey to seek companies with the
interest/ability to perform the production phase of the Pocket Radiac
(PR). This is not a Request For Proposal. The PR is a compact,
lightweight unit that is capable of detecting, measuring and displaying
total dose of prompt initial neutron and gamma radiation from nuclear
detonations plus the dose-rate and total dose from residual gamma
radiation. The total dose is measured by the dedicated dosimeter of the
PR and is displayed in dose units from 1 to 999 cGy. The dosimeter
electronics of the device is resettable to evaluate a mission dose as
required. The total accumulated dose is measurable to 999cGy with an
overange to 2000cGy. The gamma dose rate detection and measurement
mission is accomplished by the ratemeter portion of the PR for gamma
radiation in the range from 0.1 to 999 cGy/hr. The PR uses
microprocessor technology and on-board memory to provide flexibility
and features such as a self-test mode, visual and audible alarms and
hands-off operation. The PR uses four (4) 1.5V AAA Alkaline batteries
that last a minimum of 40 hours under continuous use. A SLEEP MODE with
automatic wakeup is included to conserve battery power. Data readout
and warning/mode messages are provided by liquid crystal display and
via an RS-232 data port. The PR production contract will be solicited
as a competitive bid, three (3) year multi-year contract with a small
business set aside. Members of the industrial community who desire a
copy of the Required Operational Capabilites (ROC) and/or General
Requirements for review should provide a written request to the above
contact point. Any desired response to the offering must be made at no
cost to the Government. A response to this market survey must be
provided no later than (NLT) 30 June 1995. (0132) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0396 19950515\66-0021.SOL)
