93524-1185 58 -- INSTRUMENTATION TAPES SOL F04700-95-B-0016 DUE 062195 POC
Earaleta K. Barrick, Contract Negotiator, (805) 277-3900 Ext 2265 John
C. Lemacks, Contracting Officer, (805) 277-3900 Ext 2253. The Air
Force Flight Test Center has a requirement for two types of precision
instrumentation tapes to be used on wide band airborne tape recorders.
These tapes shall be Ampex or equal, 14'' reel. These tapes will be
used for recording flight test data. Some of the projects have very
critical high speed Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) data that requires a
higher quality, lower bit error rate tape than standard instrumentation
tapes. Tapes must meet specifications in Federal Spec W-T-1553A in
addition to the following minimum salient characteristics. Minimum
salient characteristics for Ampex 799 or equal include less than an
average of four dropouts per 100 feet of tape per track. Dropout is
defined as a 12db loss of signal output for a period of one microsecond
when recording and playing back a 1.025MHZ signal at 120 inches per
second on a standard wide band 28 track tape recorder. This test shall
be performed using .25 mil tape track width (IRIG standard wide band
28 track recorder heads) evenly distributed across at least seven
tracks. Every tape delivered shall be 100% tested to the above
criteria. Minimum salient characteristics for Ampex 797 or equal
include less than an average of five dropouts per 100 feet of tape on
the center tracks and less than an average of ten per 100 feet of tape
on the edge tracks. Dropout is defined as a 6db loss of signal output
for a period of 10 microseconds. This test shall be performed using
.50 mil tape track width (IRIG standard 14 track wide band heads) using
a 1.0MHZ signal at 120 inches per second. This contract will be a
requirements contract for one year with four, one year options.
Descriptive literature will be required to be submitted with bid. All
interested sources who are able to meet the above minimum salient
characteristics for SIC 3695 shall submit a written request for the
solicitation package or FAX a request to 805-277-2409. Telephone
requests for this solicitation package will not be acknowledged.
Delivery to Edwards AFB, CA. Estimated date of issuance for this IFB is
22 May 95. (0124) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0198 19950505\58-0005.SOL)
