Responses to this notice will be used to develop a source list for a Request for Quotation (RFQ) which we anticipate will be issued in mid 1995 for a Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) procurement. SNL is one of the nation's largest and most diverse research and development laboratories. Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Martin Marietta Corporation, manages and operates SNL for the United States Department of Energy. Sandia's mission is to provide scientific and engineering solutions to meet national needs in nuclear weapons and related defense systems, energy security, and environmental integrity, and to address emerging national challenges for both government and industry. Sandia is also developing a manufacturing role as it assumes increasing production responsibilities for non-nuclear components. Sandia is interested in looking at price and performance information in two arenas: (1) Video conferencing hardware and software that is IBM PC compatible; and (2) Robotics simulation, off-line programming, and grahical display software that is IFM PC compatible. It is Sandia's expectation that as the alternative applications are implemented there will be gains in flexibility, ease of maintenance, and the introduction of any industry best practices that may be inherent in the software design. Sandia's business processes operate under the general constraints imposed on federal contractors through flow-down requirements of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, Cost Accounting Standards, OMB regulations, and other requirements. Interested developers and suppliers of video conferencing hardware and software and/or robotics simulation, off-line programming, and graphical displays who can address the needs discussed above are invited to furnish two (2) copies of a written reponse to this notice to Sandia within thirty (30) calendar days from the date of this CBD notice. The responses should include a description of the supplier's ability to meet the needs discussed above as well as providing information on price.
