70 -- HIGH DENSITY DEVICE DRIVER Due 052795. POC Debra D. Vanderhoof, 703/883-8721. PRC Inc. in support of its prime contract with the Department of Commerce, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Office of Information Systems hereby issues a sources sought with the intent to procure nineteen (19) Device Drivers for High Density Devices (HDDs). The device driver shall be compatible with the following configuration: Platform: SPARC 2ce; Target Device: Sony WDA-610 Autochanger; Operating System: Sun OS 4.1.3; Host Bus Adapter: SCSI-2; Type of Media: Sony WDM-6DLO (Storage Capacity: 3.276 gigabytes per side). The device driver shall be a character device driver that is able to address 3.276 gigabytes of storage support the UNIX open, read, write, and seek commands with offset value expressed as a logical sector address and transfer length expressed in sectors, and provide application program access to return Sense Data. The device driver shall also be capable of addressing each of the eight Logical Units (LUNs) of the WDA-610, and provide a facility for allocating media to the individual LUNs and managing LUN utilization. The current device driver is written for the Ciprico Rimfire 3563 SCSI Host Bus Adapter, but offerors may propose a different adapter based on either VME or Sbus architecture, provided the following options are supported: SCSI bus disconnect; simultaneous commands to multiple LUNs (one command per LUN); retry on error for command, bus, and parity errors; SCSI Hard Reset; and, automatic Request Sense in response to Check Condition. The device driver should meet current professional UNIX standards and be compatible with the operating system stated above. In addition, the following SCSI ioctl commands must be available to application programs: 03 - Request Sense; 12 - Inquiry; 15 - Mode Select; 1A - Mode Sense; 1B - Start/Stop Unit; 1C - Receive Diagnostics; 1D - Send Diagnostics; 25 - Read Capacity; 2C - Blank Sector Search, 2D - Written Sector Search; CO - Disk Eject; C3 - Sense Alternate Information; D6 - Disk Set; D7 - Disk Release. Vendors are requested to submit all cost information, documentation/brochures of vendor proposed solution in support of the above requirements. Two copies are required of all submitted material.
