Laboratory (EMSL) located in Cincinnati, Ohio, has a requirement for
the installation and upgrade of a Hewlett Packard 5989A mass
spectrometer to a 5989B version. This instrument will be used for
quantitative and qualitative analysis of small organic pollutants as
well as biological compounds. The instrument, which was previously
installed at another location, consists of a Chemstation data system,
vacuum pumps, an electron ionization source, a quadrapole mass
analyzer, and gas chromatograph. After assembly and testing of the
above equipment, it must be modified to : extend the mass range of
analysis to 10-2000 amu, prevent vacuum oil backstreaming through the
use of an automated sensor/valve system, and will require the
installation of negative chemical ionization hardware. It is
anticipated that the contract will be a firm fixed price effort.
