S -- BUILDING DECONTAMINATION OF THE FORMER FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AT 1009 CHERRY STREET, KANSAS CITY, MO SOL DACW41-95-B-0069 DUE 061595 POC Contract Specialist Pam Stichweh (816) 426-7424 (Site Code DACW41) CONTRACT INFORMATION: The work to be performed consists of Clean-up and UST Removal for the Former Food and Drug Administration Building. The required work consists of Basic Decontamination Process. The following processes will be used to decontaminate the building. (1) First is the perchlorate decontamination which consists of: A. Steaming perchlorate contaminated hoods, hood exhaust piping, and blower pumps. B. Dismantling of percholorate contaminate hoods, exhaust piping, and blower pumps. C. Submerging and scrubbing of dismantled perchlorate contaminated materials including a pile of exhaust piping, and stacks located in the penthouse. D. Disposal of all cleaned previously perchlorate contaminated materials. (2) The second entails removal of all carpet, carpet pad, and battleship linoleum floor used on the top floor (lab floor). (3) The third requires the cleaning of all floors, walls, and counter tops on the lab floor, the basement, and the first floor garage. The first floor office area will require washing of the floors only (not the walls) after the carpets have been removed per section (2) above. (4) The fourth process will include the disposal of all wastes including wash water, and decontaminated materials as specified. UST Removal consists of a 3'x3'x10 rectangular underground storage tank and several yards of soil to be hauled to a HTW landfill. (Contaminants: Metals) This is a RCRA site. Solicitations will be issued on or about May 16, 1995. The bid opening date will be on or about June 15, 1995 Cost of plans and specifications: FS-$25.00 - HS-$20.00 (NON-REFUNDABLE).
