A -- EVALUATION OF HARBOR WAVE ANALYSIS MODEL POC Contract Specialist, Sandy Staggs, 601-634-3698 The USAE Waterways Experiment Station (WES) proposes to award a contract to University of Maine (Professor Vijay Panchang), Orono, Maine for providing wave information for two harbors for military operations, using Dr. Panchang's harbor model, CG WAVE. CGWAVE is the only harbor model that can be used for predicting waves in large harbors (100,000 plus nodes) for naval operations to meet specific project requirements. The model only recently became available in the United States. The contractor will specifically perform the following tasks: 1) Develop strategy for various project tasks; 2) evaluate and choose a grid generator for the study; 3) create base grids for Navy's selected harbors; 4) evaluate the model using the base grids developed in task 1; 5) develop refined grids (if necessary); 6) perform model evaluation with refined grids; 7) modify CGWAVE (as needed) per project needs; 8) test the enhanced model with refined grids; 9) provide grid input and output files; 10) provide model input and output files; 11) develop post processing capabilities; 12) project documentation report in WordPerfect; 13) project wrap-up meeting. If no other sources are found, the Government intends to award a contract to University of Maine (Dr. Vijay Panchang), under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1).
