JAPAN: MARGARINE The following notification has been received in GATT Document TBT/Notification G/95.91 dated 28 March 1995. 1. Member to agreement notifying: Japan. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): margarine (HS: 1517.10). 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document: Amendment to the Quality Labelling Standards for Margarine (available in Japanese, 10 pages). 6. Descripton of content: as regards the quality labelling standards for margarine, ``prepared margarine'' and ``fat spread'' other than ``margarine'' will be subject to the standards. 7. Objective and rationale: consumer protection. 8. Relevant documents: the basic law is the law concerning standardization and proper labelling of agricultural and forest products. The said amendment will appear in ``Kampo'' (official government gazette) when adopted. 9. Proposed date of adoption and entry into force: not yet determined. 10.
