SINGAPORE: HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES, LEAD PAINTS The following notification has been received in GATT Document TBT/Notification G95.84 dated 28 March 1995. 1. Member to agreement notifying: Singapore. If applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2): 2. Agency responsible: Ministry of the Environment. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where applicable): hazardous substances: paints containing lead compounds. 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document: The Poisons Act (amendment of schedule) notification 1995 and The Poisons (Amendment) rules 1995. 6. Description of content: the control will require paints containing lead content of 0.06 per cent or more by weight of the paint to carry caution label. 7. Objective and rationale: the labelling requirement will provide information to the public about the lead content in the paints and the precaution to take in using such paints. 8.
