necessary for the Drydock Repairs to the USCGC Bittersweet. Work for
thise Drydock repairs is to be performed at the contractor's facility.
The work which may be performed includes but may not be limited to the
following minimum items: 1. Remove Inspect and Reinstall Propeller
Shaft 2. Remove Inspect and Reinstall Rudder Assembly 3. Overhaul
Anchor(s) and Anchor Chain(s) 4. Overhaul and Wieght Test Shipboard
Davit Crane (Allied Marine Crane-Model Davit 5000) 5. Overhaul and Test
TANB Davit 6. Clean and Inspect Diesel Fuel Tanks 7. Provide Temporary
Messing 8. Upgrade Refrigerator System 9. Preserve Superstructure 10.
Provide Temporary Berthing. Proposed contract will also contain
indefinte items including, but not likited to: 1. Welding Repairs 2.
Renew Shaft Sleeves 3. Renew Waster Pieces 4. Preserve Underwater Body
5. Clean and Inspect Sewage and Grey water collection and Holding
Tank(s) 6. Preserve Sewage and Grey Water Collection and Holding
Tank(s) 7. Preserve Potable Water Tank(s) 8. Renew Corrosive Zinc
Anodes 9. Ultrasonic Testing--USCGC Bittersweet's homeport is Woods
Hole, MA--Vessel is 180 Feet in Length--USCGC Bittersweet's
Availability Schedule is 07 August 1995--There will be a non-refundable
charge required in the form of a certified check or money order made
payable to the U.S. Coast Guard in the amount of $100.00 for requested
drawings and publications--The proposed contract listed here is open
to both large and small businesses--Plans and specifications will be
issued on or after 15 may 1995--All responsible sources may submit a
bid which shall be considered by the United States Coast Guard. For
Minority, Women-owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The
Department of Transportation (DOT) office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates up to $500,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80
percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. For
