The Corps of Engineers intends to issue a Request for Proposals for the supply and installation of a large scale cubing and weighing system in support of the U.S. Army Medical Material Center, Europe, Pirmasens, Germany. The system shall be a floor mounted cube scanning (measuring) system with an integrated deck scale weighing system which allows simultaneous dimming and re-weighing of large payloads and consolidated shipments handled by forklift. The system shall be set-up for right-hand operation and be able to handle multi-piece, single piece, palletized or non-palletized shipments. The system shall be able to accommodate freight which is cuboidal in nature from 1 cubic foot up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) by 5 feet (1.5 meters) square and 6 feet (1.8 meters) high and up to 10,000 pounds (4,500 kilograms). The standard scale capacity is 5,000 pounds. The system shall maintain a minimum accuracy of 0.25 inches and 0.1 pounds and provide an overhead readout which instantly displays dimensions, dim weight, and actual weight in English, Metric or mixed units. PC interface software shall be provided in order for the system to interface directly to a PC and/or mainframe host. The system shall be able to operate at 220/380 Volts and 50 Hz. A fixed price contract shall be awarded as a result of this solicitation. The solicitation will be issued on or before 15 May 95. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by this agency.
