Contracting Officer 703/648-7370 The U.S. Geological Survey has a
requirement for 24-bit color scanners that are compatible with
USGS-owned Unix hardware platforms (DG-AViiON, SUN Microsystems,
Silicon Graphics, Hewlett-Packard, IBM RS/6000), Personal computers,
Power PC's and Macintosh's current and official operating system
releases and fonts. Scanners will be used to generate digital data from
existing hardcopy documents to be manipulated by various application
software packages. All elements of the scanners shall be standard
products, configured as normally offered for sale on the commercial
market at the time of contract award. The scanners will be installed
throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto
Rico. The Government intends to operate these systems in both
controlled and uncontrolled environments and expects consistent results
with a temperature range from 60 - 85 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5 - 29.5
degrees Celsius) and 40 - 60 percent relative; noncondensing humidity.
The estimated period of performance is one base year plus option
periods through February 1998. Requests for solicitation 8154 must be
in writing (FAX 703-648-7901). Only one copy of the RFP will be issued
per company (the addressee of the first request). No telephone
requests for this solicitation package will be accepted. All
responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. See
