The USAF Medical Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, has a requirement to procure software upgrade for the communications package Norton PC Anywhere from DOS 4.5 remote version to window version of Norton PC Anywhere 2.0. The upgraded version of PC Anywhere must be compatible with the upgraded version of HAZMAT PC-LAN to allow all workers at the six (6) designated Air Force Material Command (AFMC) locations access to hazardous material information such as HAZMAT's Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). The system is required to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). A license for an unlimited number of PC Anywhere remote users is necessary for all workers to access the chemical hazard information. The USAF Medical Center is contemplating a sole source contract with Symantec Corporation since this software is proprietary. Solicitation will be issued approximately 24 APR 95. An Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established channels to communicate his/her concern during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. Potential offerors should use established channels to request information, pose questions, and voice concerns before resorting to use of the Ombudsman.
