Convention Department, (703) 549-1600. The Association of Old Crows, in
cooperation with the Joint Staff Conference, is presenting the first
Directed Energy Warfare Conference (DEW) 14-15 June 1995 at the Mitre
Corporation, McLean, Virginia. POC is the Association of Old Crows
(AOC) Convention Department (703) 549-1600. The AOC's first conference
will set a forum for a government-industry exchange on this new
element of Electronic Warfare (EW) policy and doctrine, established
under JCS MOP 6, Electronic Warfare. The Joint Staff will chair the
conference. The theme of the conference is a detailed review of DEW
today and for the future. The four technical sessions will give
industry and the operational community a comprehensive overview of DEW
on today's battlefield and its role in future conflicts. Session I
will address: DOD, DEW Policy and Weapons Technology and will be
chaired by Dr. William L. Baker, Deputy Director, Advanced Weapons and
Survivability Directorate, Phillips Lab, Kirkland, AFB. Other topics
will include: a technology overview of lasers, high powered RF and
particle weapons; joint employment policy; and weapons effects on
equipment and personnel. Session II will address: the DEW threat and be
chaired by Dr. Elliot Lehman, Intelligence Officer/Physicist, DIA.
Other topics include: DEW intelligence production and overview; ground
combat applications of lasers and ground based ASAT; DE applications
for Naval applications; air and space based DE weapons; implications of
laser technology advances; RF and particle beam weapons; and laser
protection technologies. Session III will address: joint requirements
process and the JROC; high energy laser test facility; and services DEW
programs. The session will be chaired by CAPT James Powell, USN,
J-33/STOD-C2W, C2W Branch. Session IV (the final session): will address
challenges for the DEW industry, power spectra high powered RF; and
briefings by TRW, Boeing, Rockwell, Hughes and Martin-Marietta. Session
IV will be chaired by Dr. Lou Marquet, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary
of Defense for Advanced Development. The conference will be held at the
SECRET NOFORN clearance level and unclassified summaries of the papers
will be made available to attendees. There will also be a number of
