Leigh Anne Giraldi, Contracting Officer, (301) 286-4962. The NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center intends to issue Request for Quotation RFQ5-09814/033 on a Specific Make and Model basis. This acquisition is for a Hewlett Packard SONET module for the HP Broadband Series Tester. Specifically, the NASA Communications (NASCOM) Division requires the capability to verify functional and conformance of Synchronous Optical NETwork (SONET) and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) systems that may be used for mission critical telecommunications requirements. Binary Compatibility is required to ensure the existing operations and software will function on both the existing capabilities and augmented capabilities. Hewlett Packard is the only firm which provides a SONET interface for this testing and analysis system. The requirement includes Physical Medium Dependent and Transmission convergence tests, ATM Adaption Layer and SMDS conformance testing and protocol analysis, and performance testing that stresses the whole bandwidth of the interfaces. Hewlett Packard's offering is the only system on modularized expandable hardware with software that provides adaptable low level routines that can be programmed into a complex test scenarios via a C language script capability and maintain binary compatibility. Competition is limited in this procurement pursuant to 40 U.S.C. 759(g), Specific Make and Model. All requests for RFQs must be in writing and should be received within 15 days of the date of publicatin of this synopsis. NASA shall consider all quotes submitted by responsible, responsive sources.
