design and manufacture a platform to raise a 5000 lbs weapon system to
various heights for deployment from an amphibious assault craft. The
maximum working height of the platform is nine feet. The minimum
working height of the platform is 30 inches or less. The weapon system
measures 108 inches wide, 60 inches deep, and 108 inches high. The
platform's lifting mechanism must be a manually driven mechanical
device. Electrical and fuel powered lifting mechanisms are
unacceptable. The platform shall operate in rain, ice, snow, salt
water, fresh water, sand and temperatures ranging from -65 degress to
165 degress F. Furthermore, the platform must be able to withstand
vertical 7G, longitudinal 3.5G, and lateral 3.5G loading for eight
