COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 19,1995 PSA#1328ACQUISITION REFORM SYMPOSIUM - STREAMLINING THE DOD ACQUISITION CULTURE
POC: Mr. Jim Anderson, 508-663-5257. Acquisition Reform Symposium -
Streamlining The DoD Acquisition Culture, 31 May - 1 Jun 95. The Paul
Revere Chapter of the Air Force Association is sponsoring this
symposium with the assistance of the Air Force Materiel Command's
Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts. The
symposium, to be held at the MITRE facility in Bedford, Massachusetts,
will focus on efforts currently underway to re-engineer DoD
acquisition processes for the mutual benefit of both government and
civilian contractors doing business with the federal government. The
keynote speaker is Ms. Colleen Preston, DUSD(AR) with other
presentations by senior DoD officials. There are three topics to be
discussed during this symposium. The first covers the 'enablers' to
acquisition reform such as the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act,
Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Reform activities, and
changes in Federal Acquisition Regulations. The second topic covers
acquisition in transition with emphasis on recent successes and
evidence of changes and the third covers tomorrow's cultural changes
within the statutory and regulatory framework. The symposium is
intended to give those interested in or involved with government
contracts, from both a commercial and government view, an opportunity
to gain insight into upcoming and proposed changes in order to posture
their business activities accordingly. There will be opportunity for
industry comment on the acquisition process and its changes. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0391 19950418\SP-0002.MSC)
