EXISTING 372,000 S.F. POSTAL FACILITY IN BRONX, NY POC Project Manager,
Matthew Kalandranis, 215-931-5468. Reference No. 95-20. The U.S. Postal
Service requires professional A/E design services to retrofit an
existing 372,000 s.f. postal facility in Bronx, NY. The retrofit
includes: replacement of existing roof; repair/replacement of existing
masonry walls; extensive changes/replacement of building electrical,
HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems; new universal wiring
system; and a new adjacent loading area/parking deck. There is no
mechanization involved in this project. The budget for the above is
estimated at $30-45 million. The work may take place in phases, as the
building is presently occupied. Off-site parking facilities may be
included also. Local firms with the qualifications to perform the
design services for the work described are invited to submit a
completed SF 254, Architect-Engineer and Related Services
Questionnaire; a completed SF 255, Architect-Engineer and Related
Services Questionnaire for Specific Project; and a completed SF 254 for
each of its proposed consultants, to the office shown above by May 12,
1995. No other notification of this project will be made. Following an
initial evaluation, several firms will be chosen for interview. The
selection will be conducted by using the submitted SF 254s and 255s.
Interested firms with more than one office must indicate on their SF
255 the staffing composition of the office in which the work will be
performed. Submissions shall be limited to 50 one-sided pages. A/E
firms will be considered local if their main or branch office is
located within the New York City area and the majority of the design,
coordination and management is done within that office. New York City
location of consultants is preferred, but not required. Experience in
the renovation of USPS buildings or in similar BOCA-certified
industrial-type buildings and in the design of exterior parking decks
is required. Staff must be capable of performing the work within a
tight design schedule. A majority of the design staff must be located
within the local office. Proven expertise of the Project Manager is
similar type projects must be demonstrated. The contract contains a
requirement for firms to provide evidence of $1,000,000 of errors and
omissions insurance per claim. Energy conservation and handicapped
accessibility are design factors in the Posta Service construction
program. Partcipation of MBE and WBE is encouraged. Award of this
contract is contingent upon the approval of funding by the USPS Board
of Governors in or after May 1995. This is not a request for proposals.
It is prohibited to pay any fee, commission, percentage, or brokerage
fee to any person or firm contingent upon or resulting from award of a
contract for this project. Submissions will not be retained or
