B -- NASA HISTORICAL DATA BOOK SOL W-10-80111/HWC POC Barbara Czerw tel: 202/358-0518 NASA intends to award a fixed price contract to acquire services to research and write volume five of an ongoing reference work. The reference work, NASA Historical Data Book, Volume V, will cover the period 1979-1988. This is a competitive small business set-aside requirement, and is restricted to small businesses (including 8(a)s). The SIC code for this acquisition is 8999. The contractor will be responsible for all activities associated with the production of a final manuscript and will deliver a fully publishable product (while there is no requrement for the contractor to provide a camera-ready copy, word processing criteria MUST be met). The solicitation/RFP will be issued to only those offerors who demonstrate their ability to meet the following qualification requirements: (1) Ability to research and compile statistical and other tables necessary to record data as demonstration in previous NASA Historical Data Books; (2) Ability to research and write clear, comprehensible prose required of introductory material and chronologies as well as to explain charts, tables, etc.; (3) Ability in technical writing; (4) Ability to research multiple sources, adjudicate conflicting information, and arrive at a reasonable final compilation of material; (5) Ability to complete projects on a timely basis with high scholarly quality. Much of the research data is located in the Washington DC area, and offerors outside the local Washington DC area should take travel costs into consideration when preparing their proposals. Interested parties should prepare a QUALIFICATIONS DOCUMENT not to exceed twelve pages, describing their ability to meet the above noted qualifications requirements. Only offerors who meet the qualification requirements will receive the RFP and those offerors must be prepared to give an oral presentation of capabilities.
