A. Green, 202/367-6289 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) seeks
industries' involvement in a market survey of a predominantly
commercially-available replacement for the existing FAA's Flight
Service Automation System (FSAS) (Model 1 Full Capacity System). The
sole purpose of this survey is for the FAA to obtain a better
understanding of the state and maturity of current technology as
applied to fulfilling the following generic flight services'
capabilities: (1) Weather briefings (alphanumeric and graphic
products); (2) Flight plan filing (file, amend, open, close, cancel
flight plans); and (3) Emergency services (inflight assistance and
search and rescue). The FAA does not intend to perform any evaluation,
selection, or award resulting from this survey. During the months of
May/June 1995, FAA representatives will entertain invitations to visit
a contractor's facility or operational system to verify the
information submitted in response to this market survey. Instructions
for participation in this market survey are available from the
Contracting Officer. Invitations and responses should be sent to the
Contracting Officer not later than COB, April 28, 1995. Additional
information concerning this planned OASIS acquisition will be provided
at the soonest possible date via a separate announcement. THIS IS NOT
A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL SYNOPSIS NOR IS THE FAA SEEKING OR ACCEPTING
UNSOLICITED PROPOSALS. THIS SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES
