COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 11, 1995 PSA#132221ST ENVIRONMENTAL SYMPOSIUM & EXHIBITION The American Defense
Preparedness Association, in cooperation with the Office of the Deputy
Under Secretary of Defense Environmental Security will conduct the
21st Environmental Symposium and Exhibition April 18-20, 1995 at the
San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California. The symposium
``Environmental Protection and a Changing Defense Mission - A
Mid-Decade View.'' focuses on the climate of change in DoD's
environmental programs during the 1990s, and the economic implications
of those changes for industry. Faced with an estimated $30 billion
pollution problem, environmental issues continue to be an increasing
priority for DoD. Department officials report that the majority of
DoD's hazardous materials generation is tied to weapons systems:
consequently, future systems must be environmentally sound relative to
manufacture, distribution, and ultimately, disposal. This symposium
will provide attendees with the opportunity to discuss the latest
environmental policy changes within DoD with the people who make the
policies. Featured speakers are: Honorable Paul Kaminski, Under
Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology; Ms. Sherri
Goodman, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Environmental Security;
and senior speakers from the Military Services, Environmental
Protection, Joint Staff, and the Coast Guard. Over 200 displays and
exhibits will take place during the meeting. For additional information
or a copy of the brochure, contact the American Defense Preparedness
