BUILDING FOR THE NATIONAL IGNITION FACILITY SOL B265201 DUE 051095 POC
Subcontract Administrator: Ms. Gennie McPeak, (510) 423-8454 The
University of California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
(LLNL), operating under Prime Contract W-7405-ENG. 48 with the U. S.
Department of Energy (DOE), intends to subcontract for
Architect-Engineering (A-E) Design Services that includes Title I
Design Services and Title II Design Services with an option for Title
III Construction Support Services for the National Ignition Facility
(NIF) Optics Assembly Building (OAB). The National Ignition Facility
project team has completed a Conceptual Design. The DOE has designated
LLNL at Livermore, California as the preferred site for the NIF.
However, final site selection will be made by the DOE and validated
through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process. Livermore
is located approximately 50 miles southeast of San Francisco,
California. Other sites being considered are Sandia National Laboratory
in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los
Alamos, New Mexico, and the Nevada Test Site approximately 60 miles
north of Las Vegas, Nevada. Selection will be limited to
Architect-Engineering Firms/Joint Venture firms located in the
continental United States and employing a minimum combined full-time
staff of 100 employees and representing capabilities of disciplines and
expertise as follows: Architectural, Civil Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Estimating, Mechanical Engineering, Structural
Engineering, Vibration Isolation of Laboratory rooms, Precise Thermal
Control of Laboratory rooms, Class 10 Clean Room design and Value
Engineering. Aggregation of disciplinary capabilities is allowed if
affiliations are through joint ventures, partnerships, consultant
agreements, corporate structure, or other formal subcontracting
agreements. Lead Architects and Engineers within the disciplines
assigned to the project shall have professional registration. HOW TO
OBTAIN A PROJECT NOTICE: Release of the project notice is contingent
upon receipt of appropriate DOE solicitation approvals. The project
notice will be available on or about April 7, 1995 and may be obtained
by contacting the LLNL Contracting and Materiel Management Department,
AE/Construction Group, (510) 422-7981 or (510) 423-8454 between the
hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (PST). Firms who meet the
qualification requirements described in the Project Notice and who wish
to be considered will be required to submit 8 copies of Standard Forms
254 and 255 with appropriate supplemental data by 3:00 P.M. ON MAY 10,
