document: Proposed Amendment to the Hazardous Products (Lighters)
Regulations (paces 506-510). 6. Description of Content: The purpose of
these amendments to the hazardous products (lighters) regulations is
to reduce the number of deaths and inquiries caused by fires started by
young children playing with lighters. This reduction will be
accomplished by requiring that lighters carry an appropriate warning
statement and that most lighters incorporate passive child-resistant
features meeting specific performance standards. 7. Objective and
