Stephen Sprenger, (703) 812-8205 USAISSAA intends to issue a DRAFT
Request For Proposal in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) High
Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP). The purpose of
this acquisition is to obtain wide area network (WAN) services to
interconnect and support users in science and technology (S&T), test
and evaluation (T&E), and modeling and simulation (M&S) communities
throughout the 50 United States. Digital transmission services are
required via a variety of technologies (i.e. Ethernet, FDDI, SMDS, IP,
ATM (OC1-OC48)). The estimated period of performance is 5 years,
consisting of a 3-year base effort, and 2 one-year option periods. It
is anticipated that the DRAFT RFP will be released on or about 22 May
1995 on the ISSAA bulletin board. Additionally, the Government is
conducting market research pertaining to this requirement. The type of
information being solicited from industry is located on the ISSAA
bulletin board; vendors are welcome to submit input in accordance with
the instructions on the bulletin board. Users with modems capable of
9600 bps and below may access the ISSAA bulletin board by dialing (703)
325-6095. Several 14,400 bps modems are available by dialing (703)
325-4876. In addition, the following three numbers are available: (703)
325-0390 and 325-5274 (both 9600 bps), and 325-5229 (28,800 bps).
Communications parameters should be no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit,
and full duplex. Also the bulletin board is available through the
Internet at ftp://143.134.32.67 and World Wide Web @
