The following are key salient features: 1) All system operator parameters shall be software selectable via EIA RS-232 interface, 2) No external software shall be used to setup the encoder/decoder, 3) Decoder setup shall be automatic with downlink data (i.e. it shall automatically detect the encoder output signal without reconfiguring decoder setup), 4) Embedded encryption (Comsec) required, 5) Forward Error Correction required, 6) High speed asynchronous serial digital data compatibility for encoder/decoder, 7)Encoder shall be less than 5 pounds and 100 cubic inches, 8) Decoder bit synchronizer must be compatible with the encoder. This procurement shall also include options to purchase additional quantities up to a maximum of 20 of each type of unit over the next two years.
